She Reads was lamenting the fact that she has not had much success in writing for
NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. Many people, including readers and anyone else who is motivated, have joined in NaNoWriMo to challenge themselves to write a novel. Mandy has decided that no one should be subject to her creative writing, and so is showing her support in a new way, with NaNo
ReadMo. She has determined to read five novels this month and I have decided to join her. To make it more challenging for myself, I am not counting play-scripts or anything I'm reading for class.
The challenge lasts for the entire month of November, so technically it has begun! So join us - grab a stack of books and challenge yourself based on your own thoughts of what a good challenge for you would be (Mom, I'm looking at you here. Five novels in a month? You'll finish in a week).

Ohhh! Your graphic is much cooler than mine! I'm glad you're joining. I went to the first write-in last night all the writers there thought it was cool I had set a reading challenge for myself. Here we go!
Hmmmm, it appears I did the same thing you did....thought I was following you when I wasn't. All corrected now...carry on.
This is a great idea! I started Hoyt's TO DESIRE A DEVIL after midnight last night, so I will count that as my first book. But if we're trying to challenge ourselves, I think my goal will be to read some of the really LONG, intimidating books on my list. I have to read KNIFE OF DREAMS, by Robert Jordan (832 pages), so that I'm ready for Brandon Sanderson's sequel. I also have a borrowed copy of THE WINDFLOWER (about 450 pages), and I might get AN ECHO IN THE BONE (820 pages) this month, if the library list goes fast.
SonomaLass - you are a braver soul than me. My books will have to be around 350-450pgs max. Off to decide on what books I will read....decisions, decisions.

@SL: That is... ambitious. American Gods is kind of my "biggie" for the month. I finished one today, but I'm not sure if I can make these five this month without setting aside a full day to read!
What a lovely idea. I've never even attempted NaNoWriMo(tho sometimes word wars do help) but always feel a little jealous of the camaraderie!
Does reading History of the Bank of England (1862) count? LOL it's got more drama than you'd expect, but it sure is heavy going. I'm going to read some of Joanne Rendell's books as a reward.
@Laura Kinsale: Thanks! I wish I could take credit for the brilliance, but it all goes to Mandy. :) I've never attempted NaNoWriMo either.. I'm afraid that my creative abilities involve interpreting text rather than writing it.
You should definitely count History of the Bank of England. I'm not counting my textbooks, but I am counting my reward books! Nothing like academic discussion to get you all warmed up for some romance!
